Going to the gym everyday is quite impossible so shedding off those unwanted pounds would be difficult. It’s a good thing though that doing chores around the house will help in your endeavor. All you have to do is be creative and you’ll definitely be happy with the result.

Dirty Dish Dips

A pile of grubby dishes should not hinder you from working out. Instead use it to your advantage. Work out while you do the dishes.

Target Area: arms and chests

Starting Position: Face the counter, place hands on the edge and make sure your arms are straight. Feet should be apart and at a farther distance than that of the arm’s length. Your body must be in slightly angled away from the counter.

Action: Bend elbows slowly and lower than your chest. Dip towards the counter without bending at your waist. Do chest dips towards the counter and return to starting position. Do 7 to 10 repetitions per cycle.

Tip: Wipe the counter dry before doing the exercise to avoid from slipping. Do the same with your hands.

Backyard Twists

Another great workout is yard raking. Do it at least for 30mins each day and you will surely burn approximately 171 calories. This approximates the amount of calories you lose when running one mile.

Target Areas: shoulders, arms, stomach, sides, and back

Starting Position: Grip the rake with both of your hands. Place the right hand at a lower level, and extend the arms in order to make longer rake strokes.

Action: Rake the ground reaching out the farthest possible for you. Pull the debris back towards the left foot. Do long and steady strokes together with twisting the hips and upper body towards the left side. Spend half of your raking time with this. After that, shift positions with the left hand at a lower place this time. Follow the same procedure but from left towards the right this time.

Tip: Begin raking with this motion for several minutes. Gradually increase your raking exercise by adding a few more minutes as you become used to the motion. This movement is also applicable when mopping or sweeping the floor. However, if you are currently experiencing back problems be sure to consult your health care provider first.
