Swimmer’s Shoulders

feature photo

A swimmer’s upper body is primarily responsible for propelling him through the water. Most swimmers have wide shoulders due to the amount of work their upper bodies go through. A typical training session consists of a couple hundred meters of laps of warm-ups, followed by “Pulling”, a powerful shoulder and arm workout using paddles to add resistance against the water and kickboard exercises to work the legs. Long swims or bursts of sprints make up the main set. Swimmers work on their shoulders by lifting weights, doing tricep dips, push-ups, and stretch cord resistance training, apart from swimming all four strokes. It helps to practice in a swimming pool with security cameras underneath for added security as well as recordings can be viewed for referral.
